If you like good news and future investments, then you should get ready to paint the town red to celebrate the upcoming Sherwin-Williams expansion in Statesville, which was recently approved!
The expansion
Are you wondering what the Sherwin-Williams expansion in Statesville will mean for the city? For starters, the community will see 183 new jobs and $324 million reinvested into the local economy. The deadline for the re-investment is 2026.
Sherwin-Williams, a global paint and coatings manufacturer, has established roots in our area with an existing facility.
An additional 36,000-square-feet will expand the current 200,000-square-foot facility on Salisbury Road. Plus, construction will begin on four new rail spurs and an 800,000-square-foot distribution and fleet transportation center. All of this space and the new additions will ramp up production by millions of gallons.
In turn, this will support the growing demand for the company’s architectural paint and coatings products.
According to reports, the Sherwin-Williams expansion in Statesville is expected to boost the state’s gross domestic product by $1.1 billion throughout the next 12 years.
This is all due, in part, to a Job Development Investment Grant the company recently received from North Carolina’s Economic Investment Committee.
More on the timeline
Residents will see work beginning on the Sherwin-Williams expansion in Statesville this summer. The projected completion date of the construction is the end of 2024.
Meanwhile, it will be business as usual at the existing manufacturing facility. For now, production won’t be slowing down during the expansion.
